Which levels are the stories for?
A1, A2, B1 and B2 on the CEFR scale — from complete beginners to confident intermediate learners. Each level has easy, medium and hard stories, so you can move up in small steps.
Is it Bokmål or Nynorsk?
Bokmål, written the way the narrators speak, with a consistent, modern standard (for example 'boka' and 'snakket').
Who reads the stories?
Every story has a recorded audio track with Norwegian voices for the narrator and characters. The word being spoken is highlighted as you listen.
What is free?
23 stories are free to read and listen to without an account: two in each difficulty band of every level, and the single story in B2 Easy.
What does the purchase include?
A single one-time payment unlocks every story at every level, including all stories we add later, on the web, iPhone and Android. It's not a subscription and it doesn't expire. The price is shown in the App Store, Google Play or the web checkout before you pay (on the web it's displayed in NOK and charged as the USD equivalent by Lemon Squeezy). Word explanations have fair-use daily limits.
How do word explanations work?
Tap any word to see an English translation and a short explanation of how it's used in that sentence. Explanations are generated automatically and shared between readers; they can occasionally be wrong.
Do I need an account?
Not for free stories. An account lets you buy, sync your reading position, history, saved words and streak between devices.
Can I read offline?
Not yet. Stories and audio stream from the internet.
