About Stories in Norwegian
Stories in Norwegian is a library of short stories for adults learning Norwegian, from A1 to B2.
Reading and listening to stories you actually want to finish is one of the most effective and enjoyable ways to build vocabulary and an ear for a language. But most learner texts are either too hard, too childish, or have nothing to do with real life in Norway.
So we write stories about the situations adult learners meet: the GP and NAV, job interviews and dugnad, first dates and 17 May, neighbours and noisy pianos. Characters come from many backgrounds, and each story has a real plot — a problem, a complication and an ending worth reaching.
How the stories are made
Each story is written to the level's vocabulary and grammar, checked for level fit and natural Bokmål, and approved before it's published. Every story is recorded with Norwegian voices for the narrator and characters, and the audio is aligned word by word with the text.
Who we are
Stories in Norwegian is made by Martin Mastermo Jenssen in Stavanger. Get in touch — feedback on the stories is always welcome.
